Bei fibrotischen Erkrankungen oder Krebstumoren bildet sich oft unkontrolliert viel Gewebe. Beteiligt an diesem Prozess ist das Enzym LOX, das Kollagen-?Proteine im Gewebe zusammenfügt. Matthew Aronoff und Helma Wennemers machen jetzt via LOX Tumorgewebe sichtbar. Sie haben einen fluoreszierenden Marker entwickelt, der sich dort anreichert, wo LOX aktiv ist. Chirurgen sollen so bei Operationen den Tumor vom gesunden Gewebe unterscheiden k?nnen. ETH news
