Spring market on the Hönggerberg campus
On Thursday there's to be a market with hot food and freshly prepared drinks on the HIL forecourt. Local residents are invited as well as all members of ETH Zurich.
Soon the aroma of exotic spices, crêpes and good coffee will once again be wafting over the Stefano Franscini Platz in front of the HIL Building. That's because Thursday will see the first of this year's five Spring Markets taking place on the H?nggerberg campus.
From 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. you can come and have lunch here with your friends, and you might get chatting to new acquaintances too. ?The market also serves as a meeting-place. Local residents are very welcome?, says Karin Emmenegger of the Office for Events & Location Development.
Desserts available too
This spring, there will be 12 stalls at the little market. They'll be serving risotto from Tuck-Tuck, grilled sausages from the Wipkingen butcher's and delicatessen, wraps from Freshii, Asian dishes from East2West and pizza from Franky's mobile catering van.
?It's great that the market is offering the whole range: not only hot main dishes but also desserts and coffee?, says Emmenegger. So if you fancy something sweet after your lunch, you can treat yourself to a crêpe from Walied Meguid or an ice cream from Italsweet. And then how about a coffee from the mobile coffee van?
Markets will take place on 8, 15 and 22 May and on 5 and 12 June. There will be similar Autumn Markets in September and October. The project began a few years ago: the idea of the market was one of the winning projects in the ETH Ideas Competition ?Help shape Science City? in 2009. The first market took place in October 2010 as a pilot project.
