Disney: Creating the Magic through Technology

"Art challenges technology, and technology inspires art." John Lasseter used these words to describe his experience as an artist working with the technology leaders at Pixar three decades ago to pioneer what we know today as computer-generated animation. At the heart of this statement lies the idea that technology and art, when joined together, hold unique and promising potential to amplify creativity. This concept form is part of Disney Research Zurich's core vision. In this event, we will present technology we've developed to empower expert artists to better realize their creative visions while also enhancing the experiences of novice users. Attendees can expect examples and live demos of recent research advances in animation, simulation, stylization, and, in Disney style, a little bit of singing.

Launched in 2008, Disney Research is an informal network of laboratories whose mission is to push the frontiers of technology in areas relevant to Disney: robotics, digital fabrication, computer-generated imagery and animation.
