Antonio Lanzavecchia receives 2017 Sanofi - Institut Pasteur Award

The Sanofi Pasteur Award recognizes researchers for past or ongoing work that demonstrates significant scientific progress in the life sciences. Antonio Lanzavecchia receives the prize for his research on the role of human monoclonal antibodies in the fight against malaria.

Antonio Lanzavecchia, director of the Institute for Biomedical Research (IRB) in Bellinzona and emeritus professor at ETH Zurich (Institute of Microbiology), received the international award together with Michel C. Nussenzweig from Rockefeller University and Jeffrey I. Gordon from Washington University. The three prize-winners and two national young talents received their prizes at a ceremony on 12 December at the Institut Pasteur in Paris.

Established in 2012, the Sanofi - Institut Pasteur Awards are the result of a historic and privileged collaboration between two partners with the common goal of promoting and supporting scientific excellence and innovation in the service of global health.
