Employment
The conditions of employment are based on the Swiss Federal Personnel Act, the ETH Personnel Ordinance and the Ordinance for Scientific employees.
The subpages are mainly oriented to doctoral and post-doctoral students. Further information on employment and salary for all other employees
Employment: The terms of employment are determined by an individual contract of employment that is signed by the employee and the employer.
Period of the contract:
- Non-permanent contract.
- The maximum period of employment is six years
- Initial contract lasts at least eighteen months (from 1.1.2022)
- Subsequent contracts last at least twelve months (from 1.1.2022)
- In the final year, a contract duration of at least three months is possible (from 1.1.2022)
- For members of non-EU/EFTA countries, the entire period of studies in Switzerland may not exceed 8 years. This period includes the time spent on a degree, doctorate and post-doctorate.
Level of employment: 100%
Probation period: 3 months, if contractually specified.
Duties: As defined in the job description.
Period of notice: A non-permanent contract ends when the fixed term specified in the contract expires. It is possible to terminate the employment contract early by mutual agreement between the employee and the responsible supervisor.
