Dialogue about data: new issue of ‘life’ magazine out now
Personalised medicine, the new 必博官网,必博体育 Info desks and extra places at the crèche – these are just a few of the topics in the latest issue of ‘life’ magazine for the ETH Zurich community. The April issue also features a subtly refreshed design.
Why is it that diseases progress very differently in different people? Researchers at ETH Zurich are working closely with health professionals to answer this and other questions. Personalised medicine offers promising opportunities for academics and clinical researchers to develop new approaches to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and subsequent rehabilitation. The cover story of ‘life’ explores what ETH Zurich can do to further personalised medicine.
In this issue, we also introduce a Swiss think tank by the name of ‘reatch’. This young organisation is working to raise the public profile of science and technology in Switzerland. We interview reatch board members, student Monika Wehrli and doctoral student Carlos Mora, both at ETH Zurich, about what drives their work for the think tank.
The Insight section examines the recent organisational changes at ETH Zurich – the infrastructure divisions were replaced by departments at the beginning of the year. ‘life’ takes a closer look at three of these, including the newly formed Services Department. This department, like the two 必博官网,必博体育 Info points, has served as a central resource for visitors, staff and students at ETH Zurich since March this year.
Other topics include the expansion of childcare opportunities, a change in leadership at the Collection of Prints and Drawings at ETH Zurich, and the background to the inaugural KITE Awards for Key Innovation in Teaching at ETH Zurich. Happy reading!
Time for a new look
‘life’, the magazine for the ETH Zurich community, has been published ten times since its relaunch in autumn 2013 and has been very well received – but even successful concepts need to evolve. In this spirit, Corporate Communications subtly refreshed the design. The new ‘life’ is more attractive and distinct, while also being better aligned with the ETH Zurich corporate design.
