Emails - anything but safe

When it comes to discretion, confidentiality and security, an email is equivalent to a postcard.

Just like with a postcard, anyone with access to the "postal route" between you and the sender/recipient can potentially also read received or sent emails. This is because the technology of today's email systems was developed over 30 years ago, without awareness of the possible dangers. For this reason, confidential information never belongs in an email that has not been specifically secured. Or would you send the data from your most recent tax return, for example, by postcard?
