During the course of the year, we continuously release new features or fix bugs. See the online release information page for a basic overview of the content of each release.
Tips for authors
For your convenience, we frequently provide tips on special or new functionality that might make editing your pages easier.
- Check out the AEM Best Practice website for tips on laying out content on webpages. The examples provided will also help with creating accessible webpages.
- It is extremely important for our authors to maintain website accessibility: protected page Tips and information for accessibility
- Have you forgotten the backend link for your website. Easy peasy... Go to your website on the frontend, select any page - other than the homepage - and put .edit at the end of the URL in the browser and hit enter. It will ask you to log in but then load the website management window to the page you requested. Voila!
- AEM basic courses and Accessibility courses are now available for authors. See offered courses
- An Online Q & A session for AEM authors is available on most Wednesdays and Fridays from 14:00-15:00. See the AEM manual overview page for the Zoom link and possible black-out dates.
- Information for those hosting course material on research websites: Based on student feedback, it is recommended by ETH Zurich that course information be hosted in the official platform, Moodle, so that course information can be easily found and accessible in one place. If you are hosting course information such as lesson plans, homeworks, quizzes etc. on your unit or personal website, then it is important that a link to the location of the course material be placed in Moodle so that students can easily find the required course material.
Analytics for AEM websites
Piano Analytics is the official tool at ETH to analyse user behaviour on AEM websites. protected page Find information like recordings of training sessions, future course dates, documation and how to gain access to Piano.
Manual updates
The classic online AEM manual will continue to be available while we offer the classic UI for AEM. However, the new Touch UI is being developed and will replace the old one. We have prepared the Touch UI manual. This will cover the necessary information needed for the rollout of the new ETHZ wide homepage.

Authors are welcome to provide feedback about functionality missing in system, what maybe could be improved or even if some information is missing or incorrect in the manual. Please use the online feedback form to tell us what is on your mind.
