Asian cuisine tailored to your personal tastes
On 3 April 2018, Rice Up! will open in the HIT building on the H?nggerberg campus. It marks the first time that a public catering restaurant has been introduced to ETH Zurich. Its range focuses on bowls created in line with the motto “mix it your way!”.
Fans of Asian cuisine can once again find something to their taste on the H?nggerberg campus. At the redesigned premises of Rice Up!, every guest will be accompanied through the food station by an employee. In the process, the guests will choose what to add to their bowl: true to the restaurant’s name, the basis is varieties of rice, complemented by fresh green salad. Guests can then add meat or tofu, vegetables, sauces and toppings. Anyone who doesn’t want to put in that much thought can choose one of the four signature bowls: Rice Up!, Tofu Cashew, Beef and Chicken Satay.
Ensuring the right balance
In creating the dishes, care is taken to include all the elements needed for a balanced diet. There is also a range of refreshing drinks, such as homemade lemonade and coconut water, and selected desserts. With a price range of CHF 7.90 to CHF 10.90 for students and CHF 11.90 to CHF 14.90 for ETH employees, the new range provides welcome variety on the H?nggerberg campus.
Biodegradable tableware
The Swiss catering group Two Spice is focusing on sustainability with Rice Up!: the bowls are made of sugar cane fibres, a waste product from sugar production, and are completely biodegradable. The lids and cutlery are made of another biodegradable material, PLA (composed of corn and sugar starch), and the napkins are made of recycled paper. The Rice Up! dishes are also perfect to take away – whether to eat on the terrace, in a study room or at home.
