GRE General Test
Required for students who have not obtained their Bachelor's degree in one of the external page EU/EFTA Member State countries.
Minimum expected GRE scores:
- GRE Analytical = 3.5 or 50%
- GRE Quantitative = 165 or 90%
- GRE Verbal = 155 or 70%.
Recommendation letter
Please provide two recommendation letters. We prefer letters from academia or from referees with an academic background. The letters will be part of a potential ESOP Scholarship application.
Motivation letter
Approximately one A4 page in the language of instruction of the chosen programme, stating your motivation for choosing this specific Master's degree programme at ETH Zurich.
Areas of specialisation
Students must choose a specialisation: the Master's degree programme in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology permits the specialisation in several areas. Your choice of a specialisation should match the content of your curriculum (study programme) so far.

Direct Doctorate (applications in the first application window only)
- For a successful application, a confirmation of the future supervisor (ETH professor) is required. This letter has to state that they will provide the funding for the merit-based scholarship during your MSc studies and the salary for the subsequent doctoral studies.
- Motivation letter: please state in your motivation letter your suitability for the planned research. Furthermore, an outstanding academic record is required.
