Lab research

Working as part of a research team under the supervision of an assigned faculty mentor, you will have the opportunity to learn from leading scientists and doctoral/phd students.

Lectures and events

There will be regular mandatory events for all Amgen Scholars during the Programme. The focus will be on topics beyond the lab: cross-cutting skills, such as communication, scientific writing and intercultural skills, career issues and poster workshops.

Social events

There will be one to two organised events led by ETH Amgen Scholars alumni. The Amgen Scholars at ETH Zurich have the opportunity to organize joint social activities during the weekends.

Cambridge symposium

The Amgen European Symposium takes place at the end of the summer programme. All scholars from the five different European Amgen Scholars Programme institutions attend the symposium: LMU, ETH Zurich, Institut Pasteur, Karolinska Institutet and University of Cambridge.

The event comprises 2 days of talks from Cambridge academics, industry speakers and Amgen Scholars alumni. A signature element of the symposium schedule are the poster sessions - each institution's scholars will present their posters and share their summer projects with the other scholars. All meals are provided, including a formal dinner.
