The focus was again on the well-being of ETH members in the third part of the townhall series led by Julia Dannath on 23 February 2021. Mental fitness was the main issue of the virtual event, during which the ALEA Award was also presented and the three nominees were recognised for their progressive leadership at ETH.
“Point” – the ETH community’s digital village square

Digital meeting point, flea market and events calendar – the newly launched ETH community platform “Point” is all this and more. The goal of the platform is to bring ETH members together across team boundaries and hierarchies, and also to anchor the issue of sustainability within the community.
Taking a chance in a pandemic

Brothers Gabriel (20) and Rafael Sonderegger (22), both mechanical engineering students at ETH, founded their start-up Sondia in Schaffhausen during the first wave of the pandemic last spring. They set about producing certified face masks based on the slogan: “Masks from Switzerland, for Switzerland” – a surprisingly successful experience that has taught them a great deal.

VSETH has elected its new president, with Luca Dahle (23) from the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering chosen to succeed Thierry H?rmann. Coming to his new role as VSETH president in the midst of a pandemic, Dahle would like to raise awareness of the issue of student mental health.
Influenza vaccination for ETH members

ETH’s annual vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza is to run again in this pandemic year. This autumn, the Safety, Security, Health and Environment (SSHE) department will offer the voluntary and free service to ETH members. Additional vaccinations have been organised as a result of the high demand.
Safety concept for catering outlets

All catering outlets at ETH Zurich will reopen again at the start of the semester on 14 September, but they will be subject to additional measures to protect against coronavirus. The caterers have developed a tailored safety concept to keep the risk of infection as low as possible.
